Day Program Groups

Mondays
9:30 am-10:15 am   Life Skills
Description: Members will learn different skills that will allow them to adapt positive behaviors that enable them to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of life.
10:30 am-11:15 am  Fundamentals of Reading
Description: Members will read/listen along with a short reading of the week with discussion to follow/throughout.
11:30 am-12:15 pm Health/Wellness
Description: Learn about infection precautions and control (properly wearing/disposing of PPE, social distancing, etc.), keeping lungs healthy (deep breathing exercises, indoor exercises, immune boosting foods and healthy snacking) as well as summer safety (sunblock, swimming, etc.). We will hold “Ask a Nurse” open forums, talk about the food pyramid and portion control​ ad well as dental hygiene.
1:30 pm-2:15 pm Visual Arts & Crafts
Description: Members will participate in an arts and crafts activity. Make something special and unique!

Tuesdays
9:30 am-10:15 am   Square Root To Success
Description: Members will observe/participate in a stimulating math activity of the day. They will also participate in informative discussion regarding how to be financially responsible and independent. Participatory activity may be included.
10:30 am-11:15 am  Geek Squad Experience
Description: Members will observe/participate in informative, experimental science activities.
11:30 am-12:15 pm World Cultures
Description: Members will expand their knowledge of different cultures from all around the world.
1:30 pm-2:15 pm  Table Talk
Description: Members will participate in conversations that will empower and enlighten them of different perspectives, discussing current events and observations/opinions about things that have happened and or are currently happening.

Description: Members will have time to visit their favorite places without leaving the comfort of their own homes. Let the marvels of the world captivate your imagination.

Description: Members will participate in a cooking activity that is fun, quick and delicious. Staff will assist as needed.
1:30 pm-2:15 pm Music & Games
Description: Members will participate in music activities that include: rhythms, ear training (recognizing familiar pitches), song writing, and scales/arpeggios. They will participate in fun- filled exciting games.

ACE Program Groups

Mondays

Math A: An introduction to math that will reinforce basic operations like subtraction, addition and basic multiplication.
Math 1:  An introduction to math that will reinforce basic operations on everyday usage such as counting money, and understanding terminology used every day.
1 pm-1:30 pm
Reading A: An introduction to reading that will help with the alphabet, learn about vowels, consonants, and various blends. There will be some writing and story reading.
Reading 1: This group will reinforce your skills to make reading more enjoyable and encourage you to think and write creatively.

Music: We will explore the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and style, with hands-on playing and vocal activities.

Science: Together, we will learn about the world through science and virtual field trips. Find out more about the scientific method and how it can be applied to everyday life.

Theater:  Ever wondered what it is like to be center stage? Learn the basics of improvisation with fellow actors through entertaining theater games.

History:  Discuss current events, learn about U.S. history, investigate ancient civilizations, and explore other countries and people that make up our world.

Math 2: A more advanced version of Lifetime Math 1, this group will reinforce basic operations on everyday usage such as counting money, and understanding terminology used in everyday situations

Reading 2:  A more advanced version of Reading & Creative Writing I – this group will challenge avid readers and enthusiastic writers to take their skills to the next level.
Media:  Students learn about various types of media platforms, safe usage of social media and internet, explore thematic film units, and develop their own multimedia projects.

Visual Art: Together we learn about famous artists and the specific types of art they are known for. See how far your imagination and creativity will take you in creating projects in these different art forms.

Description: Are you ready to enter the workforce?  Learn what it takes to be job ready!  The groups will focus on identifying career interests, building communication skills, and enhancing soft skills needed in the workplace.

Supported Employment Schedule

Topic:  The Importance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Description:  This group will discuss the benefits of utilizing PPE in regards to protecting one’s health when working with others.  Each participant will gain knowledge of the different types of PPE and how to use each piece of equipment.

Topic:  How to Properly Wear & Use PPE
Description:  Participants will demonstrate the correct usage of each PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and its function.  This group will be interactive and each participant will be asked to properly demonstrate the correct usage of PPE.

Topic:  Discussing the Dangers of not wearing PPE
Description:  Participants will be educated on how germs are spread and how it relates to COVID – 19.  Participants will then discuss in an open format preventive measures regarding infection control.

Topic:  How to Dispose of PPE Correctly
Description:  Participants will learn the proper way to remove each piece of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) after each task.  This group will be interactive and each participant will be asked to properly demonstrate the correct method and where to dispose of the used PPE.

Topic:  The Wrap-up of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Description:  Participants will have the opportunity to review all information and ask questions.  A posttest will be distributed and each participant will complete in order to receive credit for the full five hour course on PPE.

 Topic:  Health & Safety 101
Description:  This group will discuss ways to protect yourself from germs and viruses.  Each participant will learn the importance of social distancing and how to prevent injuries and/or accidents.

Topic:  Safety in the Workplace
Description:  Participants will learn the common safety practices and protocols within the workplace.  This group will be interactive and each participant will be asked to identify safety hazards followed by a post test.

Topic:  Sanitation Best Practices
Description:  Participants will discuss how to sanitize equipment and the significance of hand washing.  This group will be interactive and each participant will be asked to properly demonstrate hand washing and sanitizing equipment.

Topic:  Waste & Recyclables 101
Description:  Participants will learn safety protocols as it pertains to the disposal of waste products.  This group will be interactive and each participant will be asked to properly demonstrate the handling of hazardous objects and waste.

Topic:  Wrap – Up of Health & Safety in the Workplace
Description:  Participants will have the opportunity to review all information and ask questions.  A post test will be distributed and each participant will complete in order to receive credit for the full five hour course on Health & Safety in the Workplace.
